When my body broke down, my answer was to handle it harder.

I’ve lived a version of that. And I think so many women have—we’re so practiced at pushing through that we don’t even recognize it as a pattern until something makes us stop.

What your coach understood—that the life is part of the equation—is something I find myself coming back to again and again in my own work with women. We keep looking for the right plan when sometimes what’s missing is someone asking the right question.

Thank you for writing this so honestly, Anna. The kilo a month made me smile. I love that you’re celebrating progress at a pace that works for you.

This story is about the weight, but most women have frustrating experiences that are brushed away just because she is is no longer young. We have no roadmap, there is no research. Women after midlife is an empty map, and if we can't figure it out, tough luck! Terrible.

This is so relatable, Anna. The workout more in my 30s was awesome but in my late 40s it completely reversed. So I did the calories in and out for the first time, and then just made it even worse. It was a different back then, very little info available. And I know so many others with similar stories.

Also, I just love the way you tell the story. Your writing is so good.

Thank you! 💗

If I hadn't been through this myself, I would never have understood the depth of frustration and disinformation.

It was a really hard and sad time, but it was an absolute brilliant school for my work. Every cloud has a silver lining ✨
